Position Summary: Represent Camp Kulaqua’s Building Maintenance Division to guests, staff, and vendors through professional communications and actions. Perform normal office tasks and procedures. Maintain inventory (purchase, receive, and stock) in order to meet the maintenance needs of the camp.
Education and Training Required:
Required = High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Required = Proficient in Microsoft Office XP or later software (emphasis in Word and Excel) and Microsoft Outlook
Preferred = 1-2 years of experience operating materials management software
Preferred = 1-2 years of construction and vehicle-related experience
Preferred = Bilingual
Position Qualifications: (The following knowledge, skills and abilities are representative of minimum levels of requirements).
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of principles, policies and beliefs of the Florida Conference of SDA’s and Camp Kulaqua.
- Knowledge of office equipment and the operation of such equipment.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures.
- Knowledge of acceptable purchasing practices.
- Knowledge of general construction terminology, materials, process, and suppliers.
- Knowledge of general vehicle maintenance terminology, maintenance procedures, and vendors.
Skills:
- Must be adept in the use of Microsoft Office XP software or later, particularly Excel and Word, Internet and email.
- Clearly communicate (verbal and written) in English with guests, co‑workers, and management.
- Possess organizational skills in both task and time management.
- Maintain up-to-date records.
- Detail-oriented.
- Be skilled in multi-tasking.
- Maintain clean and orderly work area
Abilities:
- Work well and effectively with others.
- Able to follow detailed directions.
- Ability to take ownership of work and assigned responsibilities

- Assess needs of BM Division to insure proper work flow.

Physical Requirements: This position combines sedentary and physical work. The majority of work tasks will be accomplished at a desk in an office setting. However, work in other camp facilities and outdoors is possible. Assigned tasks will include (but are not restricted to) standing, walking, bending, kneeling, carrying of items up to 50 lbs., etc.
Working Conditions: Assigned work duties cover both interior and exterior responsibilities. Therefore, work is performed in all types of climate conditions (climate controlled to inclement weather). Employees are expected to be prepared and able to work in all-weather situations.
Essential Job Functions:
- Uphold the standards and policies of the Florida Conference of SDA’s and Camp Kulaqua.
- Present a neat, clean and professional personal appearance.
- Wear, maintain, and clean personal work uniforms.
- Be willing to work in other Departments as needed, with supervisor’s approval.
- Use and maintain any assigned radio, key(s) and vehicle.
- Respectfully use and maintain Camp Kulaqua tools.
- Attend all staff meetings and staff training (when applicable).
- Follow office procedures for removing stock items from inventory.
- Follow office procedures for completing work orders/assigned work.
- Safely operate Camp Kulaqua equipment (e.g. golf carts, trucks, vans, etc.).
- Prepare golf cart rental fleet for guest rentals (gas, wash, check tire pressure, etc.)
- Maintain MSDS records for entire camp.
- Perform camp-wide fire extinguisher checks.
- Monitor and maintain fuel inventory.
- Monitor and maintain BM Division inventories.
- Conduct purchasing processes.
- Keep assigned work area clean and orderly, both interior and exterior.

Must be able to work in a fast-paced and customer service-oriented environment; to perform duties under pressure and to complete assigned work in a timely manner; to work as part of a team as well as to complete assignments independently; to take instructions from supervisors; to exercise problem-solving skills; and to interact with co-workers, supervisors, guests and the public in a professional and pleasant manner.
Must be able to deal tactfully and effectively with guests, Kulaqua staff, and contracted labor on a daily basis. Must remain calm under pressure and exhibit courtesy, diplomacy and kindness, both in person and through other communication avenues.
